What's a Panto

What is a Pantomime?

Spoilers! It's nothing to do with mimes.

There's a lot of talking involved.

A pantomime, or panto, is an old English tradition, and these plays are still put on in the Christmas and New Year’s season in the United Kingdom.

A pantomime is a play loosely based on a familiar fairy tale. It includes a lot of slapstick comedy, references to topical issues, men in dresses and audience participation. In other words, you get to laugh out loud and shout at the silly actor, who can’t see that the other guy is BEHIND YOU!

There’s something for everyone. Kids will love the funny costumes and over the top characters, and adults will enjoy the double entendre and topical references. What a great way to celebrate the countdown to Christmas with the whole family.
